SALZBURG BAUERNHERBST HARVEST FESTIVAL
Cows decorated with bells and ribbons, harvest festivals with colourful stands and regional culinary specialities, craft markets and parades with brightly decorated horse-drawn carriages are a feast for the eyes, ears and palate. There is a wide range of activities for children too, from inflatable castles to arts and crafts to face painting.
The motto of the 24th Salzburg Bauernherbst harvest festival is “From Roots to Tips – Breathe In and Breathe Out.” From Saturday, 24 August to Sunday, 3 November 2019, you can say farewell to the summer with local residents and associations at 2,000 events at 72 Bauernherbst locations. Experience Salzburg’s traditions, folk culture and love of life up close!
The official opening of the Bauernherbst harvest festival takes place in Saalfelden on Saturday, 31 August. The highlight of the festival is the traditional Bauernherbst parade with local associations, music and local residents who are enthusiastic about preserving traditional culture. It is also possible to sample regional specialities and homemade products. Stroll through the craft market and buy regional works of art as a souvenir of your holiday in Salzburgerland.
