The trail begins from the Habachtal parking area along the picturesque river Habach. The new Smaragd trail goes from beautiful Moaalm to the new Thüringer hut at 2,240 meters above sea level. The Habachtal parking area in Habach is the starting point of the 5-hour hike.
- The Enzianhütte or Alpenrose in Habachtal is the starting point for people seeking minerals. The hut is open from the middle of May to the middle of October. Quench your thirst at the Enzianhütte
There are 28 beds for overnight stays , and a dormitory (common room) for approximately 20 people. - Many years ago a large mudflow from Leckbachrinne ran right by Alpenrose and it is now a ideal place to find emeralds.
- The Thüringer hut (2.240 m) is a mountain hut and it is open from mid June to late September. There you can enjoy the delicious homemade delicacies.

The main summit is at 2,366 m: gorgeous option for a hike.
The Bramberger Mountain (2,225 m): from the mountain station in the Wildkogel hiking-area it is about 1 hour to the summit.
The “Voralpenmatterhorn” (2,263 m): the highest Grasberg (grass-covered mountain) in Europe, about 2 hours to the Bürgel Hut.
